A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the serious assault of a 77-year-old man in Glasgow. The incident occurred in broad daylight on Tuesday, April 28, when the pensioner was allegedly stabbed inside a vehicle on Auckland Wynd in the Dalmarnock area.
Armed police and a dog unit were called to the scene at around 12:10pm, near Riverbank Primary School. Paramedics also attended and the victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Local residents were left in shock, with one mother describing how teachers locked down the school and closed all blinds as a precaution.
Police Scotland confirmed the arrest on Saturday, around two months after the attack. The suspect is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, June 15. A police spokesperson said: 'A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the serious assault of a 77-year-old man in Glasgow.'
