A 77-year-old woman has died after being struck by a car close to a busy retail park in Dundee city centre.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, involving a silver Mini Cooper, close to the Gallagher Retail Park at 10.45am on Friday.
Police Scotland is appealing for information following the fatal crash, which closed East Dock Street for several hours, and has asked anyone with dash-cam footage to come forward.
Driver uninjured
The woman who died in the collision has not been named. The driver of the Mini Cooper was not injured.
Constable Christopher McElwee said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who has died at this difficult time.
“Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us.
“We’d also ask anyone with dash-cam footage which could assist our enquiries to come forward.”
Emergency response and road closure
The Scottish Ambulance Service said it dispatched two ambulances, a special operations team and a critical care team to the scene.
The road reopened around six hours after the fatal crash at 4.30pm.
