A double decker bus crashed into a building in Hayes, west London, on Friday evening after apparently hitting a pedestrian. The incident occurred on Station Road, near Hayes and Harlington station, at around 7.30pm.
Footage shared online shows the H98 bus to Hounslow hitting the side of the building after appearing to lose control as it turned at a roundabout. The bus collides with a car and strikes a man walking across the road before crashing.
Injuries and response
The pedestrian was injured in the incident before the bus struck the building. Police and fire fighters attended the scene, with crowds gathering around the crash. First Bus London said there were no passengers on board the bus when it crashed.
The driver suffered a minor injury, and a pedestrian was also treated for minor injuries, the operator told London Bus Forum News. The company said emergency services attended the scene and that damage to the building had been confirmed as non-structural, the website reported.
Investigation and support
First Bus said the circumstances surrounding the collision would be fully investigated and that it would support the relevant authorities with their enquiries. The Standard has contacted the bus company for comment, and London Ambulance Service has been contacted for details.
A TfL spokesperson said: "Our thoughts are with the person who was injured when a bus collided with a building in Hayes and Harlington earlier today. Safety is our top priority, and we and the bus operator, First Bus, are assisting the police to establish what happened."
