Pedestrian hospitalised after Wylam Bridge car collision

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital after being struck by a car on a North East bridge. Emergency services were called to Wylam Bridge in the early hours of Saturday morning following the collision.

Collision details

The crash happened shortly after midnight. An ambulance crew treated one person at the scene before taking them to hospital. The extent of the person's injuries is currently unknown.

Ambulance response

A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 12.18am today to a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a car on Wylam Bridge. We dispatched an ambulance crew, a doctor in a rapid response car, a rapid response paramedic and a clinical team leader, who treated one patient before conveying to hospital."
