Lisa and Michael Marlowe, whose 26-year-old son Jake was killed at the Nova Music Festival, have spoken of their devastation as a new exhibition commemorates the victims. Jake, working as unarmed security, was shot nine times while helping others escape the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.
A Father's Account
Michael Marlowe, 64, recalled Jake's final phone call: 'He said he loved us, there was a commotion, but he'd call back. That call never came.' Michael flew to Israel to identify his son's body, describing the moment as 'living with me till I die.'
The Nova Exhibition
The exhibition, opening in east London on May 20, recreates the festival scene with abandoned vehicles and personal items. It has already been seen by over 600,000 people worldwide. Lisa, 61, said: 'This feels like our boy is coming home for six weeks.'
Antisemitism Concerns
Jake had moved to Israel in 2021 due to antisemitism in the UK. The family now fears rising hate crimes. Michael said: 'We're British Jews, but British first. Someone needs to stop this.'
Keeping Jake's Memory Alive
The family has dedicated an ambulance in Israel in Jake's name, which has been dispatched over 2,000 times. They also support guide dogs and a scholarship fund. Lisa added: 'We are determined to keep Jake's legacy going. We can't let anyone forget our son.'
The exhibition runs for six weeks at 10-14 Hewett Street, London. Tickets from £18 support survivors and bereaved families.
