A six-year-old boy has died in a house fire in Brisbane's inner north, while a man, a woman, and a four-year-old girl escaped the blaze. The fire broke out at the rear of a home on Barlow Street, Clayfield, shortly before 4am on Monday.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services reported that the adults and the young girl managed to get out of the property, but the boy was trapped in his bedroom at the back of the house. Firefighters faced intense heat, making it difficult to enter the building.
After forcing their way through the front door, firefighters extinguished the blaze and discovered the boy's body in a bedroom. The Queensland Ambulance Service treated the man for superficial burns to his hands, while the woman and girl were uninjured.
Television news footage and photographs showed the home had been gutted and charred by the fire. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
