Nottinghamshire Police have issued a public appeal to trace a motorist following a serious crash that left a woman with a significant head injury. The collision occurred on the Straight Mile near HMP Ranby, close to Retford, at approximately 5:30pm on Monday, December 8, last year.
The victim, a woman in her 30s, was driving when she was involved in the collision. She sustained a serious head injury and was taken to hospital for treatment. A suspect was initially arrested at the scene but was later de-arrested.
Police are now seeking witnesses who can help locate the driver of a black Ford Mondeo involved in the incident. PC Anthony Brice, who has taken over the investigation, said: 'We believe that person left the scene of the crash in the immediate aftermath and have been working to track them down.'
PC Brice added: 'This incident happened early in the evening and would likely have been seen by more people than have already spoken to the police. After some significant new evidence came to light, we are now issuing a public appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this collision or who saw this vehicle in the moments before the incident.'
He urged anyone with information to come forward, stating: 'We know that in cases like this, witnesses sometimes assume that others will have come forward already. In this case it absolutely is relevant and may make all the difference.' Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 26000198797.
