A fire broke out at a residential property on Cragside Avenue in North Shields in the early hours of Wednesday, triggering a major emergency response. Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service and Northumbria Police are currently at the scene, with eight fire appliances reported to have been deployed.

According to a Northumbria Police spokesperson, emergency services were alerted shortly after 3:30am on Wednesday. The fire service first notified police of the blaze at an address in the Cragside Avenue area. A resident told ChronicleLive that eight fire appliances were sent to tackle the flames.
Police Cordon and Road Closure
A police cordon has been established, and a section of Cragside Avenue remains closed to traffic. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and it is not yet clear whether anyone has been injured.
Northumbria Police said: “Shortly after 3.30am today (Wednesday), we were alerted by the fire service to a fire at an address in the Cragside Avenue area of North Shields. Emergency services are currently in attendance. A section of the road has also been closed.”
