Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have issued an update in the murder investigation into the death of 26-year-old Alisha Samuels, who was stabbed to death in Newton Heath. Ms Samuels was fatally wounded on Dorking Avenue in the early hours of Thursday morning (October 15).
Arrests and bail
As part of their investigation, police arrested three people in connection with her death. A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of her murder, whilst a 61-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
In an update issued today (October 16), GMP say the 25-year-old man is no longer being treated as a suspect for murder and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries into other matters.
Police appeal
Detectives are continuing to appeal for information following Alisha's death and are asking that people respect her family's privacy as they come to terms with their devastating loss.
Detective Chief Inspector Justin Bryant, the senior investigating officer, said: "While a man has been released on police bail as our enquiries continue, our investigation remains very much active.
"We are relentlessly pursuing those responsible for Alisha's death and are continuing to seek those outstanding individuals believed to have been involved in this incident.
"I would urge people not to speculate about the circumstances of Alisha's death. Speculation and misinformation can hinder our investigation and cause further distress to Alisha's family at an incredibly difficult time.
"If you have any information, no matter how small it may seem, please come forward and speak to us. The information you provide could be vital in helping us locate those outstanding and secure justice for Alisha."
Incident details
The investigation was launched on Thursday after police were called to reports of a 'disturbance' at 2am and found Alisha with serious injuries. Tragically, she could not be saved and died at the scene.
It emerged today (October 16) a man was also injured in the same incident and was taken to hospital. The nature and extent of his injuries, or how they were caused, is not yet clear.
Anyone who may witnessed the incident, or has mobile phone, CCTV, or doorbell footage, is asked to call GMP on 0161 856 5464 or using the Major Incident Public Portal.
