Happy Valley favourite Siobhan Finneran is set to return to screens in The Loch, a Scottish crime drama arriving on Netflix on 26 July. The six-part series originally aired on ITV in 2017 and has now been acquired by the streaming giant.
Set on the shores of Loch Ness, the whodunit follows small-town officer Annie Redford, played by Laura Fraser, and her new no-nonsense partner Lauren Quigley, portrayed by Finneran, as they investigate a series of killings. Death in Paradise star Don Gilet also appears as psychological profiler Blake Albrighton.
The drama was created and written by Stephen Brady, known for Professor T and Patience. Upon its original broadcast, critics drew comparisons to Broadchurch, with New Statesman dubbing it 'Wee Broadchurch' and the New York Times calling it 'a fine diversion for summer evenings'.
Internationally known as Loch Ness, the series has been praised for keeping viewers guessing. Finneran told Digital Spy that the show 'should keep people guessing', as many characters seem suspicious at various points.
