A murder investigation has been launched after a mother and her two children were found dead at a property near Bedford, with police stating that the suspect is believed to have fled the country.
Discovery at Great Denham
Bedfordshire police were called to a home in Carnoustie Drive, Great Denham, on Monday after concerns were raised that the woman and children had not been seen for several days. Officers forced entry and discovered the bodies.
Suspect Identified and Believed to Have Left the UK
Assistant Chief Constable John Murphy confirmed that a suspect, known to all three victims, has been identified and is thought to have left the country. He stated: 'This is a deeply distressing incident in which a mother and her two children are believed to have been murdered. As a result of inquiries undertaken so far, we have identified a suspect, who was known to all three victims and who we believe has since left the country.'
Police Increase Presence and Appeal for Information
Murphy added that while there is no wider risk to the public, police presence will be increased in the area to support the investigation and reassure residents. He urged anyone with information, especially about suspicious activity on Friday and Saturday, to come forward. 'Any information, no matter how small, could help our investigation,' he said. He also appealed to the public to avoid speculation and respect the victims' privacy.
