Police have launched a murder investigation after a 24-year-old e-bike rider was killed in a crash with a moped that is believed to have been chasing him. The collision occurred in Kensington, west London, at 1am on Friday, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Emergency response and scene
Officers were called to reports of a man found seriously injured in North Pole Road, west London, about 20 minutes later. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service also attended the incident, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation and appeal
The Met is searching for the moped rider, and investigators are appealing for witnesses to the collision and the events leading up to it. Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at what is a very difficult time.
“We have launched a full investigation and are working hard to get answers and establish exactly what happened.
“Our team are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry, including efforts to identify and trace the rider of the moped.
“As part of this, we’re urging anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the e-bike or the moped to get in touch with us as soon as possible.
“If you have any information that could help, please come forward.”
