Boy, 14, Charged with Murder of Teenager Lilly in Wales

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder following the discovery of a missing teenage girl's body in Blaina, Wales, Gwent Police have confirmed.

The boy, from the Blaenau Gwent area, was arrested after the body was found in Duffryn Park on 22 June. Formal identification is pending, but police believe the victim is 14-year-old Lilly, who had been reported missing.

Lilly was last seen on High Street, Blaina, at around 6.50pm on Saturday 20 June. Her family has been informed and have given permission for her name to be released as it will form part of court proceedings.

The suspect, who cannot be named for legal reasons due to his age, is described as white British. He is in custody and is due to appear at Newport Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Detective Chief Inspector Steven Thomas expressed condolences to Lilly's family and urged the public to be mindful of online comments that could prejudice the investigation. Police cordons remain in place at Duffryn Park and other scenes as inquiries continue.
