A 58-year-old motorcyclist has died following a collision on the A470 in Gwynedd. Emergency services were called to the scene of a crash involving a motorbike and a car on the Crimea Pass between Dolwyddelan and Blaenau Ffestiniog on Sunday, August 9.
Fatal Collision
North Wales Police has confirmed that the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The road remained closed for several hours while emergency services attended to the incident.
A North Wales Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 1.32pm yesterday (9th August) to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision involving a car and a motorbike on the A470 Crimea Pass between Dolwyddelan, and Blaenau Ffestiniog. Officers attended alongside colleagues from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Welsh Ambulance Services University Health Trust and the road was closed."
Investigation and Appeal
The spokesperson added: "Sadly, the 58 year old motorcyclist was pronounced deceased. The Coroner has been informed and the motorcyclist's family will be supported by specially trained officers."
Detective inspector Tim Evans, from the serious collisions investigation unit, said: "I am grateful to members of the public and all emergency services who responded to the crash, and my thoughts are with the family and friends of the rider who tragically died in this incident. We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage from the area leading up to the time of the collision."
