Mother Charged With Murder of 18-Day-Old Baby in London

A 43-year-old woman has been charged with murdering her newborn daughter, who died after falling from a height at a property in central London.

Zahira Byjaouane was arrested on Saturday morning following reports that a baby had fallen from a building on Horseferry Road in Westminster. The 18-day-old infant was treated at the scene and taken to a major trauma centre, but later pronounced dead.

Forensic officers were seen working in a third-floor flat on Saturday evening, and a police cordon was in place. Flowers and a toy animal were left near the Peabody Estate building on Sunday after the cordon was lifted.
