Ohio Man in Custody After Wife Shot Dead in Struggle Over Shotgun

A 58-year-old Ohio man is being questioned by police after his wife was fatally shot during a struggle over a shotgun at their home in Mason, Ohio. Timothy Sparks called 911 early Monday morning, reporting that his wife Susan, 56, had been shot in the chest.

During the call, Sparks told dispatchers his wife suffered from depression and had implied she would kill herself. He said he found her sitting on their bed with a loaded shotgun pointed at her chest around 6:40am. Sparks, who was recovering from shoulder surgery, said he tried to wrestle the gun away but was pulled on top of her, and the weapon discharged.

Police arrived to find Sparks covered in blood. He was taken to the police station for questioning. The couple had been married for 33 years and had three sons. Authorities are investigating the incident as a questionable death.
