Missing woman's body found on North Devon cliffs

The body of a 56-year-old woman reported missing has been found on cliffs near Combe Martin in North Devon. Devon and Cornwall Police named the woman as Marina, from Surrey. She was found on Thursday, a day after she was reported missing.

Search and recovery operation

Marina was last seen near Kiln car park in Combe Martin on Wednesday morning. Police confirmed on Friday that she had been found, adding that her death is not being treated as suspicious.

Exmoor Search and Rescue Team assisted police in a multi-agency search. The team searched Combe Martin and the surrounding coastline on Thursday alongside search dog Jack from North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team and crews from HM Coastguard.

Police statement and next steps

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "The body of a woman has been located on cliffs near Combe Martin on Thursday 8 October. Her death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file is being prepared for the coroner. Formal identification is due to take place. The family of Marina, 56, from Surrey, who was reported missing on 7 October, have been made aware."

A spokesperson for Exmoor Search and Rescue Team said its thoughts are with the woman's family.
