Jessica Hirst, a 16-year-old from Denton, who had been missing for almost a month, has been found. Greater Manchester Police confirmed the news this morning (August 12), thanking the public for their help.
Disappearance and search
Jessica was last seen getting off a bus at Piccadilly Gardens on the evening of Thursday, July 16. She had visited Granada Park earlier that day before boarding the bus from Windsor Road.
Extensive enquiries had been carried out to find her in recent weeks, with multiple public appeals made. The force checked CCTV and body-worn camera footage to trace her movements.
Family's plea
Her aunt, Emma Hirst, had issued a heartfelt plea for Jessica to return home in the Manchester Evening News earlier this month. She said: "I want her to know, do not worry about a thing. It is OK. Come home, pick up the phone, call someone, if you are in trouble, try and get help."
Emma added: "She has a good heart, she is fun, she's very intelligent and loves singing and music. I'm worried for her safety, thinking, where is she? But I don't have a clue where she could be. I don't know who she knows or who her friends are. We've been crying and losing sleep over it."
Confirmation
A GMP spokesperson said: "We can confirm that Jessica, who was missing from home, has been found. Thank you to all who shared our appeal and was out helping us locate her."
