An 11-year-old girl reported missing on Sunday night has been found dead near a cricket ground in Elmley Castle, Worcestershire. West Mercia Police have launched an investigation into the discovery and are treating the death as unexplained at this stage.

The girl was reported missing at around 11.20pm on Sunday, October 4. Her body was later found in the park near the cricket ground in Elmley Castle. Police have informed her family, who are being supported by specially trained officers.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "An investigation has been launched after the body of an 11-year-old girl was found in Elmley Castle, Worcestershire. The girl was reported missing at around 11.20pm yesterday evening (Sunday 4 October) and was later found deceased in the park near the cricket ground."

Increased Police Presence

Residents in Elmley Castle have been advised to expect an increased police presence while officers carry out their enquiries in the area. The spokesperson added: "Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding her death, which at this stage is being treated as unexplained."
