Merseyside Police issue Netherton dispersal order

Merseyside Police have introduced a dispersal zone in Netherton, Bootle, following a sudden increase in youths causing anti-social behaviour in the area. The order is active and will remain in place until 10pm tonight (Saturday).

Special powers granted under Section 34

The order has been authorised under Section 34 of the Anti-Social Behaviour & Policing Act 2014. It gives police officers and Police Community Support Officers the power to direct people they suspect are causing or likely to cause crime, nuisance or anti-social behaviour to leave a designated area and not return for up to 48 hours.

Officers also now have the power to seize any item, including vehicles, used to cause anti-social behaviour on multiple streets within the zone.

Consequences for returning

Should a person who has previously been directed to leave the area return, an offence would be committed, which they may ultimately be arrested for.

Area covered by the zone

The affected area is bounded by Northern Perimeter Road, Chapel Lane, Netherton Green, St Oswalds Lane, Bridge Lane, Swifts Lane, Poulson Drive, Sefton Moss Lane, Sterrix Lane, Gorsey Lane, Pendle Drive and off shooting roads, Bowland Drive, Wooded area on Trawden Way and Buckley Hill Lane.
