Meghan's father probed over child sex abuse images claim

Thomas Markle Snr, the estranged father of Meghan Markle, is facing a police investigation after his son allegedly discovered a large cache of child sex abuse images at his home in the Philippines.

Thomas Markle Jnr claims he found "hundreds, if not thousands" of child abuse images stored in four large boxes at his father's home in Cebu, according to The Sun. Police in the Philippines are reportedly preparing to search the property and seize evidence.

Discovery of the Images

Thomas Jnr says he made the discovery while looking for a phone for his Filipino girlfriend's father in the boxes. He claims he found a 15-minute video that appeared on an abandoned LG mobile phone.

He told friends the discovery left him a "shaking wreck". Thomas Jnr had been caring for his father, a retired TV lighting director, following a previous stroke in 2022.

Report to Authorities

On July 10, Thomas Jnr reported the discovery to the FBI Hotline, the US-based National Centre for Exploited and Missing Children, and the state police of Pennsylvania, where his father was living.

Markle Snr, 82, left the Philippines in May after suffering a stroke and blood clot that led to the amputation of his left leg. He now lives in a nursing home in Florida and is supported by his other daughter.

Family Reactions

Thomas Jnr said: "When I found this material I was horrified and I had no option but to report my dad."

"I have supported, cared for him and helped him for years — but that stops now. I won't speak to my father ever again unless I'm called to give evidence against him."

A source close to Meghan told the publication: "Now maybe people will finally understand why she has had nothing to do with her father since 2018."
