Masked Thug Smashes Windows and Throws Paint at Turkish Restaurant
Masked Vandal Attacks Turkish Restaurant in Doncaster

Police have launched an investigation after a masked vandal was captured on CCTV smashing five windows of a family-owned Turkish restaurant in Doncaster before hurling paint across the building. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning at Antep Bar and Grill on Nether Hall Road, Yorkshire.

The footage, widely shared online, shows a thug concealing their face behind a bike helmet while using a hammer to shatter the windows of the popular eatery. The attack has left the restaurant's owners, Dektas and Satma Polat, devastated. The couple, originally from Turkey, have lived in the UK for 33 years and raised two children, aged 27 and 25, in Doncaster.

Satma Polat, 50, expressed her shock: "I love England. I love Doncaster. This shop is home to a friendly team. So I don't know who would come and break the windows." She added that the cost of repairing the five smashed windows alone is estimated at around £1,700. The couple spent over three hours cleaning up the storefront and the road outside after being alerted to the damage.

The restaurant issued a statement on social media, saying: "We’re really saddened and disappointed to share that our restaurant was targeted last night, with windows smashed and paint thrown over the front. We work incredibly hard to build something positive for the community, so it’s genuinely upsetting to see this happen. It’s also a real shame that local businesses on our street have had to deal with a series of incidents like this over the past year."

As a result, the restaurant remained closed temporarily while repairs were carried out. The statement continued: "If anyone saw anything or has any information at all, please reach out to us directly. We appreciate all the support as always and hope to be back open very soon. We won’t let horrible ‘people’ like this stop what we do."

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "At 2.46am on Wednesday 6 May we received reports of criminal damage at a premises on Nether Hall Road, Doncaster. It is reported that a man smashed five windows at the premises with a hammer before leaving the scene. Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information that could aid the investigation is asked to get in touch online or by calling 101, quoting incident number 87 of May 6, 2026."
