Police have launched an appeal after a masked vandal smashed five windows of a family-owned Turkish restaurant in Doncaster with a hammer and covered the building in paint. The attack took place at Antep Bar and Grill on Nether Hall Road in the early hours of Wednesday, 6 May.
CCTV footage shows a thug, hiding his face behind a bike helmet, using a hammer to destroy the windows of the restaurant. The business is run by husband and wife Dektas and Satma Polat, aged 54 and 50, who have lived in the UK for 33 years after moving from Turkey. The couple said they were devastated by the attack.
Satma Polat said: 'I love England. I love Doncaster. This shop is home to a friendly team. So I don't know who would come and break the windows.' She added that the windows alone would cost around £1,700 to repair. The restaurant posted a statement on social media expressing sadness and disappointment, noting that local businesses have faced a series of similar incidents over the past year.
South Yorkshire Police received a report at 2:46am on Wednesday, 6 May. Officers said a man smashed five windows with a hammer before leaving the scene. Enquiries are ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 87 of May 6, 2026.
