Manhunt launched after Neath town centre stabbing

Police are searching for a suspect after a stabbing in Neath town centre late on Friday evening.

Incident on Commercial Street

Emergency services were called to reports of a man being stabbed on Commercial Street at around 10.30pm. A 30-year-old from Sandfields, Port Talbot received medical treatment.

He has since been discharged from hospital, according to police.

Witnesses reported seeing a police cordon in place outside Tennessee Chicken and Booze Express, near to Commercial Street.

Police investigation

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said the suspect had left the area when officers arrived.

Investigations into the stabbing are ongoing, with police stating they have established positive lines of enquiry. Arrest enquiries are continuing, the spokeswoman added.

Appeal for information

Chief Inspector Carl Morris, from South Wales Police, said: “There will understandably be concern in the local community regarding this incident. Knife crime remains low is Neath and thankfully the victim has been discharged from hospital.

“But even one instance of knife crime is one too many and we are working to establish the circumstances and arrest the person responsible.”
