An international manhunt is under way for Pankaj Lamba, the husband of Harshita Brella, whose body was discovered in the boot of a car in Ilford, east London. Northamptonshire police have named Lamba as the prime suspect in the murder of the 24-year-old from Corby.
Ch Insp Paul Cash told a press conference that police believe Brella was murdered in Northamptonshire earlier this month before her body was transported to Ilford. Officers suspect Lamba has already fled the country.
Brella's body was found on Brisbane Road in the early hours of Thursday. A murder investigation was launched, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
DCI Johnny Campbell said detectives are working around the clock to establish the circumstances of Brella's death, including the exact location and timeframe. He appealed for anyone who knew Brella to contact police.
Northamptonshire police have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to previous contact with Brella, who lived in Skegness Walk, Corby.
