Police Scotland has launched a manhunt after a convicted child rapist escaped from staff while on escorted community leave in Perth city centre on Friday.
Cliff Lyons Dobbie, a restricted patient, absconded from staff and is now being treated as a missing person. He was convicted of raping a 10-year-old girl in Glasgow in 1990 while on bail for sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy.
Background and warning
Dobbie has been housed in secure units ever since, including the State Hospital at Carstairs. Police have warned members of the public not to approach him.
Inquiries are ongoing to trace him. This is a breaking story and more updates are expected.
