Manhunt after teens chased with sword near school

A 17-year-old boy suffered a "superficial wound" after two teenagers were chased down a street with a sword near St Peter's High School in Tuffley, Gloucestershire. Police were called to Chalford Road just after 8.50am on Friday morning following reports that two males, one carrying the weapon, were pursuing two 17-year-olds.

Police response and arrests

Armed response units attended the scene, but the suspects are believed to have fled on foot. A vehicle was intercepted shortly afterwards, leading to the arrest of a woman on suspicion of assisting an offender. A force spokesperson confirmed that the woman remained in custody while undergoing questioning.

Officers have since clarified that the injured teenager was not taken to hospital, contrary to earlier reports.

Witness appeal and suspect descriptions

Detective Inspector Sophie Dawkins of Gloucestershire Police has urged witnesses to come forward, saying: "We completely understand the concern this incident would have caused, especially when it happened near a school at drop-off time."

She added: "We've had armed officers searching the area, along with support from our drone unit and the National Police Air Service, and work is ongoing to identify and locate those involved."

One suspect is described as a white male, believed to be in his late teens to early twenties, of medium to large frame and around 6ft tall, wearing white sliders. The second male is described as white, roughly 5ft 5ins tall, of slim build and dressed in black attire.

Dawkins stated: "Numerous enquiries have been taking place and officers from the neighbourhood team have been in the area throughout the day to reassure parents that there is not thought to be a wider threat."
