A major police investigation is underway after a man in his 60s was stabbed on a footpath running through Stafford Castle golf course, leaving him fighting for his life. The attack occurred at around 7pm on Thursday on Newport Road, near the Castlefields area.
Victim in Critical Condition
The victim remains in a critical condition in hospital following the incident. Detectives believe he was walking through the area when he was approached from behind and seriously injured. Specialist officers are supporting the victim and his family as the investigation continues.
Suspect Description
Police have described the suspect as a man in his mid-to-late 20s, of average build, wearing dark clothing, and possibly of Eastern European descent. He remains at large, and a manhunt is ongoing.

Staffordshire Police have renewed appeals for information, urging anyone who was in the Castlefields area between 5pm and 8pm on Thursday to come forward. They are particularly interested in any CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist the investigation.
Detective Inspector Dave Rowlands said: "I want to reassure the community that we are doing everything in our power to identify and apprehend those responsible. There is a significant policing operation underway, including increased patrols in the area."
