West Yorkshire Police have launched a manhunt for 24-year-old Luqman Khan following the fatal shooting of Mohammed Hasan, a 28-year-old father described by his family as a loving husband, father, son, and brother. Hasan died of his injuries on Sunday, July 20, after being shot in the head on Gaythorne Road in Bradford just before 11pm on July 8.
Nine Arrested in Connection with the Shooting
In total, nine people have been arrested in connection with the investigation. Four are held on suspicion of attempted murder, and five on suspicion of assisting an offender. Eight of those arrested have been released on conditional bail. Hasnain Akhter, 21, of Tichborne Road, has been charged with attempted murder and remanded in custody.
Police Search for Wanted Suspect
Police are now actively searching for Luqman Khan, who is believed to have travelled to Suffolk and is thought to be in the Ipswich or Felixstowe areas. Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Dan Bates said: “Sadly, Mohammed Hasan was left with unsurvivable injuries from this horrific act of violence. We are determined to get justice for him and his family and need people to put aside any misplaced loyalties and think about how they would feel if it was their husband, their son, their brother.”
Family Appeals for Information
In a statement, Mohammed Hasan’s family said: “Hasan was a loving husband, father, son and brother. He would go out of his way to help other people. He was the life and soul of every room he’d walk into. He will be missed by all his family and the community. Life is often overlooked and communities need to come together to make sure nothing like this happens again. The family urge anyone who has any information to provide this to West Yorkshire Police.”
