A man in his 20s remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition after sustaining a puncture wound to his back during a fight at a car wash in Liverpool. Emergency services were called to Long Lane Hand Car Wash at approximately 6:35pm on Sunday, July 5, following reports of a group of men fighting.
Police response and investigation
Merseyside Police officers arrived at the scene to find the victim with a puncture wound to his back. He was taken to hospital for treatment. The suspects had fled the area before officers arrived, and an investigation is now underway to locate those involved.
In a video obtained by the ECHO, a group of men can be seen fighting at the car wash before being chased away, with muffled shouting audible. When the ECHO attended the scene, forensic officers had bagged several items from the car wash, including what appeared to be two shovels.
Scene cordoned off
A small cordon remained at the entrance of the car wash while the scene was investigated. The car wash is surrounded by various industrial estates.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for information following a disturbance in Walton this evening. At around 6.35pm today (Sunday, July 5), we received a report of a group of males fighting on Long Lane. Officers attended the scene but the suspects had left. A man aged in his 20s was taken to hospital with a puncture wound to his back and he is in a serious but stable condition. An investigation is ongoing to find those responsible and we are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch."
