A male cyclist was rushed to hospital following a serious collision with a car on Brandlesholme Road in Bury on Tuesday, July 7, prompting a road closure that lasted for hours.
Collision details and emergency response
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a car was involved in a collision with a cyclist near the junction with Woodhill Road. The male cyclist was taken to hospital, though his condition has not been confirmed. A white car was pictured in the middle of the road at the scene and appeared to be damaged.
Police cordoned off a stretch of Brandlesholme Road to the north of Bury town centre shortly after lunchtime. Pictures showed a large police presence and an ambulance at the scene. A cordon was put in place at the busy junction, with a car also pictured within the police tape.
Ongoing enquiries and road closure
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Traffic officers manned the cordon amid ongoing enquiries throughout the afternoon. Greater Manchester Police shut the road in both directions due to the major response, which caused further congestion in the area.
Bury Council described the closure as a 'road traffic incident' in a social media post and advised people to avoid the area.
