CCTV footage has captured the moment a man narrowly escaped a Russian drone strike near Kyiv, escaping by mere seconds. The pedestrian is seen walking past a playground while checking his phone before stopping to look up, apparently hearing the incoming device, and sprinting for cover. Moments later, the drone hits the ground in a ball of fire exactly where he had been standing.
Ukraine claims Russia plans civilian attacks
The near miss comes after Ukraine claimed to have obtained Russian documents outlining a new strategy to target civilian infrastructure ahead of winter. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said: “We saw documents, and we know that they allow them to attack infrastructure, logistics, and especially to attack in the cities, in the villages, everywhere, roads, schools, hospitals.” He added that the goal is “to pressure people to leave the capital, leave different cities.”
Deadly strike in Zaporizhzhia
In a separate incident, a glide bomb attack on the city of Zaporizhzhia killed at least 15 people, including three children, according to officials. The footage and the reported strategy highlight the continued threat to civilians as the conflict persists.
