An 18-year-old man has been jailed for three years after threatening a chicken shop worker with a realistic imitation firearm on Christmas Eve over a missing garlic sauce order. Marwan Khadir, of Malcolm Close, Penge, carried out the attack at a south London shop on 24 December.
Khadir complained about his order, asking the employee, “How many garlic sauces did you put in the bag?” and later returned to the shop after discovering wrong sauces. He shouted at the worker, pulled out the fake gun, cocked it, and threatened to kill him. He also assaulted the employee multiple times.
Police identified Khadir through CCTV, financial tracking, and local checks between Christmas and New Year’s Day. He was arrested on 2 January by armed officers, who seized the replica gun and fake ammunition.
Detective Sergeant Amy Cross praised the victim's bravery and the officers' tireless work over the holiday period. Khadir pleaded guilty at Woolwich Crown Court on 30 January to possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, making threats to kill, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
