A man in his 40s was found with serious wounds following a violent axe attack in west London, leaving him with life-changing injuries. The incident occurred at around 10.20pm on Tuesday, August 4, near Clitheroe's Lock on the Brentford stretch of the Grand Union Canal.
Emergency services were called to Transport Avenue after reports that a man had been assaulted with an axe. The victim was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital, where his injuries were assessed as life-changing.
Location and response
The attack took place close to Lock 99, between Transport Avenue and Boston Manor Park. Residents reported hearing shouting and screaming around the time of the incident, and a Met forensic team carried out a detailed search of the towpath, which remained closed on Thursday as officers continued their enquiries.
Appeal for information
No arrests have yet been made, and police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information that could help identify the attacker. Members of the public have been urged to call 101, quoting ref 8737/04AUG, or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
