A man in his 70s has died following an incident at Croyde Beach in Devon. Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the death on Wednesday afternoon after being called to the scene.
Emergency response
Witnesses reported seeing around five police cars, three ambulances, and the Devon Air Ambulance at the beach in the early afternoon on Wednesday. One onlooker said the air ambulance landed twice.
Police were called at approximately 1.25pm on Wednesday 12 August following a report of a man having suffered a medical episode while in the sea at Croyde Beach.
Confirmation of death
A police spokesman said: "We were called at around 1.25pm on Wednesday 12 August following a report of a man having suffered a medical episode while in the sea at Croyde Beach. Sadly, despite resuscitation attempts the man in his 70s was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed."
