A man in his 20s was rushed to hospital after being found with multiple stab wounds in south east London. Met Police officers came across him by chance in Herbert Road, Woolwich, at about 5.45pm on Saturday (September 26).
Officers delivered first aid before paramedics from London Ambulance Service took him to hospital. Scotland Yard said the man's injuries were not believed to be life-changing.
Arrest made
A Met Police spokesperson told News Shopper that a 24-year-old man was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in police custody.
Buses were diverted while emergency services responded to the incident, but have since resumed their regular routes. A cordon was raised, stretching from Herbert Road towards the Plumstead Common Road end, The Sun reports.
Appeal for witnesses
Enquiries into the circumstances that led to the stabbing are ongoing. Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information should call the police on 101.
