Man in 20s found dead in Wirral house as substances removed

Merseyside Police are investigating after a man in his 20s was found dead inside a house on Reedville in Oxton, Wirral. Emergency services have remained at the scene since Saturday, October 3, following the sudden death.

Police called to property on Reedville

North West Ambulance Service contacted police at around 3.55pm on Saturday after finding the body of a man in his 20s at the property. Officers have since launched an investigation, and following initial enquiries, his death is being treated as unexpected.

Substances removed as precaution

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team attended the scene as a precaution to assess and remove substances found inside the premises. Police have stated that there is no wider risk to the public at this stage.

His next of kin has been informed and a file will be passed to the Coroner, reports the Liverpool Echo.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police told the ECHO: "Merseyside Police can confirm that emergency services remain in Oxton today (Sunday 4 October) following a sudden death yesterday.

"Shortly after 3.55pm on Saturday 3 October, North West Ambulance Service reported they had attended a property on Reedville where they had found a man in his 20s sadly deceased inside.

"Merseyside Police has launched an investigation and following initial enquiries, his death is being treated as unexpected. His next of kin has been informed and a file will be passed to the Coroner.

"As a precaution, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) have attended to assess and remove substances located inside the premises and have deemed there is no wider risk to the public at this stage."
