Merseyside Police have launched an investigation after a man in his 20s was found dead inside a house in Oxton, Wirral, with his death being treated as unexpected.
North West Ambulance Service contacted police at around 3.55pm on Saturday, October 3, after finding the man's body at a property on Reedville. The force confirmed that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended the scene as a precautionary measure to assess and remove substances found inside the premises.
Investigation and next of kin notified
A formal investigation has been launched, and following preliminary enquiries, the death is being treated as unexpected. The man's next of kin has been notified, and a file will be submitted to the Coroner, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Police have stated there is no wider risk to the public at this stage.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "Merseyside Police can confirm that emergency services remain in Oxton today (Sunday 4 October) following a sudden death yesterday.
"Shortly after 3.55pm on Saturday 3 October, North West Ambulance Service reported they had attended a property on Reedville where they had found a man in his 20s sadly deceased inside.
"Merseyside Police has launched an investigation and following initial enquiries, his death is being treated as unexpected. His next of kin has been informed and a file will be passed to the Coroner.
"As a precaution, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) have attended to assess and remove substances located inside the premises and have deemed there is no wider risk to the public at this stage."
