A man's body has been discovered inside a car following a vehicle blaze in Portadown, Co Armagh. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, which occurred on Saturday evening.
The fire was reported at around 10pm in the Harford Street area. Firefighters attended the scene and extinguished the flames. The body of a man was found inside the vehicle, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigation underway
Ammunition technical officers were also tasked to the scene to conduct relevant inquiries, though police confirmed there is no risk to the public. Significant damage was caused to the car, with several windows smashed and scorch damage observed to a neighbouring property.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course to determine the cause of death. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation, and inquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire.
Appeal for information
Police have appealed for anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened to contact them on 101. A police cordon remains in place.
