Police have arrested a man after a 41-year-old man was found dead in a public car park in Truro, Cornwall. The death is being treated as unexplained, and enquiries are ongoing.
Discovery at Moorfield Car Park
At around 10.45am on Monday, August 17, police responded to a call from the ambulance service and attended Moorfield Car Park in Calenick Street. Officers found the man, from the Truro area, deceased on the ground floor of the car park.
The man has not been formally identified, but police confirmed he was 41 years old. His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Arrest and Investigation
Detectives have arrested a 44-year-old man from Truro in connection with the investigation. He has been arrested on suspicion of assault grievous bodily harm, administering a noxious substance, and theft. He remains in police custody.
A cordon remains in place around the closed ground floor of the car park while forensic examinations and searches are carried out. Officers are also reviewing CCTV footage to establish the man's movements prior to his death.
Appeal for Information
Detective Inspector Jon Bray said: "Our enquiries are at an early stage as we work to establish the circumstances surrounding this man's death. One arrest has been made in connection with our investigation and the man remains in custody."
Police are appealing for anyone with information or who witnessed anything suspicious in the area between the afternoon of Friday, August 14, and 10.45am on Monday, August 17, to come forward. The inside ground floor car parking area will remain closed while investigations continue, but the outside parking area remains unaffected.
