Police and emergency services attended Kersal Wetlands in Salford on Saturday morning after a man was found unresponsive by the River Irwell. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Concern for welfare call
Officers from Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a concern for welfare at around 6.45am on Saturday, October 3. Emergency services raced to the wetlands, where the man was sadly found unresponsive.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed the man was pronounced dead at the scene. A spokesperson for the force said: "This was a concern for welfare incident. Emergency services attended and sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene."
