Man Charged with Murder After Triple Stabbing in West London

A 22-year-old man has been charged with murder following a triple stabbing in Uxbridge, west London. Safi Dawood appeared in court on Thursday accused of killing 49-year-old Wayne Broadhurst and attempting to murder a 45-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy.

The Metropolitan Police said officers were called to Midhurst Gardens at about 5pm on Monday 27 October. Paramedics attempted to save Mr Broadhurst, but he died from multiple stab wounds. The two other victims survived their injuries.

Dawood, who also lived in Midhurst Gardens, is said not to have known Mr Broadhurst or the other two people he allegedly stabbed. He was also charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

Police confirmed Dawood suffered a medical episode while in custody and required hospital treatment, but has since returned to police custody. The case has attracted attention due to Dawood being an Afghan national who claimed asylum in the UK.

Chief Superintendent Jill Horsfall said: “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time. The incident will have understandably caused concern to the local community.” Officers remain in the area to provide reassurance.
