Two Arrested After Stabbing in East London Leaves Man Critical

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a large fight in Barking, east London, on Saturday night. Police were called to River Road at around 11.20pm, where three men aged 28, 23 and 22 were found with stab wounds.

All three were taken to hospital. The 22-year-old remains in a critical condition, while the other two were discharged and arrested. The 23-year-old later became unwell in custody and was returned to hospital.

Chief Inspector Mo Mahmood said: “Our thoughts are with the critically injured man and his family at this very difficult time. We understand the concern this incident will have caused for the local community and officers continue to work at pace to understand what happened.”

He added that the incident is believed to be isolated and that an increased police presence will be maintained in the area. Witnesses or anyone with information or footage are urged to contact police on 101 quoting CAD 8277/06JUN26, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The incident follows the death of singer-songwriter Talay Riley, who was stabbed in Silvertown, east London, on Friday morning.
