A 40-year-old man has died after his car crashed into a pensioner's home in Peterborough. Richard Woollard, from Werrington, was driving a blue Ford Mondeo when it collided with stationary vehicles and struck a semi-detached property on Paston Ridings on May 17.
Emergency services attended the scene at around 6pm. Mr Woollard was taken to hospital but died on Sunday, May 24. His parents paid tribute, saying: 'We are deeply saddened by the loss of our son, Richard. He will be profoundly missed by his family and friends. Please respect our privacy during this difficult time.'
A man and woman in their 70s who were inside the house were also taken to hospital with serious injuries. The man has since been released, while the woman remains in a serious but stable condition.
Neighbour Greg Hilliam described scenes of 'chaos' as emergency services arrived. Another resident praised a neighbour who rushed to help, calling them a 'hero'. Cambridgeshire Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage, asking anyone with information to contact them online or by calling 101, quoting Operation Perranwell.
