A man has sustained life-threatening injuries after a car struck multiple pedestrians in a town centre in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Incident Details
Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that the incident involved a red Vauxhall Astra and occurred in Market Place, Arnold, at 1:12 am on Saturday. Multiple pedestrians were hit by the vehicle, with one victim suffering critical injuries.
The vehicle was abandoned at the scene, and the driver fled on foot, police said. Officers have identified a suspect, described as a white man, and are actively tracking him down.
Police Statement
Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow of Nottinghamshire Police stated: "There is no indication at this stage of any ongoing threat to the wider public. However, we understand the incident will cause concern in the community. Officers will remain at the scene today to carry out further inquiries, speak to local people, and offer reassurance. It is also important anyone with information, or relevant dashcam, CCTV, doorbell, or mobile phone footage, gets in touch without delay."
Road Closures and Investigation
Road closures have been implemented in Arnold town centre while police investigate the incident. Market Place and the junctions from Gedling Road to Derby Street, Hallams Lane, and Central Avenue were closed off on Saturday morning. Police said the closures will remain in place for some time, and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
