Man Critical After Edinburgh Garden Incident: Police Appeal

A 43-year-old man remains in critical condition at Edinburgh's Royal Infirmary after being discovered seriously injured in a garden on Whitson Road in Saughton. Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service responded to the alarm raised at 9:30pm on Friday, July 17, 2026.

Urgent Appeal for Information

Detectives have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with CCTV or door camera footage from Friday evening to come forward. Detective Chief Inspector Jonny Wright stated: “I am appealing for information on how the man has come to be injured. If anyone in the area witnessed anything or has any CCTV or door camera footage from Friday evening, that hasn’t already been shown to officers, I’d ask them to get in touch.”

Community Response

Locals reported seeing police in white suits and cordons on Whitson Road and surrounding areas. Officers remained at the scene into Saturday afternoon. DCI Wright thanked the community: “The response from the local community has been very helpful to the investigation and I’d like to thank them for their assistance so far.”
