A man has been formally charged with murder and attempted murder after a violent incident in Tottenham that claimed one woman's life and left another fighting her injuries.
Metropolitan Police confirmed that 28-year-old Ben Ekundayo, of no fixed address, will appear before Wood Green Crown Court following the attacks that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Double Attack in Residential Street
The disturbing events unfolded on Willan Road, N17, where police were called shortly after 3:15 AM to reports of a stabbing. Despite the efforts of emergency services, a 42-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second woman, aged 41, was discovered with serious injuries nearby and was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment. Her condition is now described as stable by medical staff.
Community in Shock
Residents of the typically quiet Tottenham street have expressed their horror at the brutal attacks. Local community leaders have called for increased police presence in the area as investigations continue.
Detective Chief Inspector James Conway from the Met's Specialist Crime Command is leading the investigation. "This was a horrific incident that has resulted in the tragic loss of life and serious injury to another woman," he stated.
Ongoing Investigation
Forensic teams remain at the scene as officers continue their door-to-door enquiries and review CCTV footage from the area. Police have confirmed they are not looking for any other suspects in connection with the attacks.
The identity of the deceased woman is being withheld pending formal identification and notification of next of kin.
