Man Arrested on Suspicion of Attempted Murder After Car Hits Pedestrians in Ealing

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a vehicle struck multiple pedestrians on a busy London road before driving away, police have said.

Five people were injured, including three who were taken to hospital, during the incident in Ealing Broadway, west London, at about 2.30pm on Saturday. None of the injuries were life-threatening or life-changing.

Counter-terrorism policing London conducted initial inquiries, but the incident is not being treated as terrorism. A Somalia-born British man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and attempted murder, the Metropolitan Police said.

The suspect was detained in nearby Grange Park a short time later. Two people who were not taken to hospital received treatment at the scene.

Footage circulating online appears to show bystanders running alongside a white car, kicking it and attempting to open the driver's door before the vehicle sped away.

Police said road closures remain in place in the area while investigations continue.
