A 35-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of a nine-year-old girl in Arbroath. The girl was found seriously injured shortly after midnight on Monday at the Elliot industrial estate in the Angus town. She was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where she later died.
Police treating death as suspicious
Police are treating the death as suspicious. The man, described as white British, is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Wednesday. Officers have stated they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the girl's death.
Investigation ongoing
Detective Inspector Mike Ness of Police Scotland's major investigation team said a police presence will remain in the area while inquiries continue. Forensic officers were pictured investigating a blue Peugeot at the scene.
