Man charged after woman's body found in freezer in Porthcawl

A 60-year-old man has been charged after the body of a woman in her 80s was discovered in a freezer at a property in Porthcawl, South Wales Police have confirmed.

Officers were called to an address on Poplar Crescent at 1:45pm on Tuesday, February 17 following a welfare concern for a woman. Upon arrival, they found the body of an elderly woman inside the property.

Christopher Phillips, from Porthcawl, has been charged with preventing a lawful burial. The force has stated that investigations into the death are ongoing.

The deceased woman, who was in her 80s, was from the local area. Police have not yet released her identity or cause of death.

Phillips remains in custody and is due to appear before magistrates at a later date. South Wales Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
