Police investigating the death of a man found in his home in Greenford, west London, have arrested three individuals. The victim, identified as 36-year-old Zbigniew Michniewicz, was discovered by officers on Thursday after neighbours raised concerns about his welfare.
Detectives revealed that a grave had been dug in the back garden of the property but had not been used. A Scotland Yard spokesman described it as "a large hole, big enough for a body, in the garden at the rear of the property." It is believed Michniewicz was killed in a fight involving three white men two to three weeks ago.
A 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old woman, both believed to be residents of the same house, have been arrested and bailed until later this month. A third man was also arrested but has since been released without charge.
DCI Noel McHugh of the homicide and major crime command appealed for witnesses, saying: "I am keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or may have some information. I also want to hear from anyone who stayed at or visited the property in the last few weeks."
One neighbour, who declined to be named, described the occupants as reclusive: "It's very dark. I have seen men and women coming and going but they were rarely outside. They kept themselves to themselves and wouldn't stop to talk even if I'd wave they would just turn around and ignore me like I wasn't there."
A postmortem was conducted on Friday, but police have not yet released the cause of death.
